Synergies and Benefits
[Marius Kloppers]
We target a portfolio of tier one assets, very large, low cost assets that can be developed and expanded over many business cycles.
Now we aspire to be the best. The combination with Rio Tinto would not change this strategy.
Bringing these two companies together at long last just makes sense. For too long a time both companies have been operating with joint ownership of assets, with assets neighboring each other, or with assets in any case in very close proximity,
This is actually the one transaction where you can see, where you can touch and where you can feel the synergies that exist between these two companies. They are uniquely complementary.
Both sets of shareholders are invited to be a part of the continued operation. Both sets of shareholders will participate in the synergies and benefits that are generated.
The companies fit together, there are unique synergies, our objective is to make one plus one equal three, or if you wanted, to make one plus two, as I prefer to think about it equal five. Therefore, weve got a great future.
