Family Divorce Solutions Members, Armine Baltazar, on Panel For Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training

Divorce is one area where personal conflict is front and center. Armine Baltazar is one of the trainers for a 40-hour Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training coming in March 2025 at the Center for Understanding in Conflict.

Ms. Baltazar is a member of Family Divorce Solutions (FDS), a group of collaborative / mediation professionals that provide services and assistance for the legal matters, financial matters and emotional issues for children and family going through a divorce.

"This in-person training is valuable for anyone who deals with divorce, especially collaborative divorce. As a professional association for people who work divorce cases from whatever director, Family Divorce Solutions works hard to find experts in the peaceful divorce field to educate these professionals. Having Armine as one of the presenters is a tremendous opportunity for FDS members and others who want to learn about managing personal conflicts," said FDS President Cynthia Todd.

Ms. Baltazar is a mediator and collaborative attorney in L.A. After 20 years in the field, she is co-founder of Healthy Divorce, a pilot program in Superior Court that helps low-income couples with support services they may need during and after their divorce. She also teaches law at Monterey College of Law and has guest lectured at Loyola Law School and Santa Monica City College.

"I am driven to help people find peaceful ways to resolve conflicts. When a couple gets divorced, it is a stressful time for each person. If children are involved, it can be even worse. When I guide people to look at things calmly, they can usually find a way to separate without overwhelming animosity," she said.

Her presentation at the coming training will draw on her vast experience in the area. She will use actual case examples, with names either changed or left out, to illustrate how people can be directed toward a peaceful divorce.

"I will, of course, take questions. To me, that is one of the better parts of these programs. You come to me with an issue you need help with. I show you a way to handle it. You get to go back to your practice and implement what you learned," she said. "By sharing knowledge, we both gain something and lose nothing."
