Item 1.04 Mine Safety — Reporting of Shutdowns and Patterns of Violations.

 

On February 21, 2013, ICG Hazard, LLC, a subsidiary of Arch Coal, Inc., received an imminent danger order under section 107(a) of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 at the East Mac and Nellie mine in Breathitt County, Kentucky.  A service mechanic failed to properly secure himself while on a man-lift platform approximately 9 feet off the ground.  Mine personnel immediately took corrective action and the order was terminated.
