(NYSE: MAA) announced today that it has sold 470,000 shares of its 9 1/4% Series F Cumulative Redeemable Preferred Stock at $25 per share for an aggregate principal amount of $11.75 million. The net proceeds of the offering will be used to repurchase and retire a portion of the issued and outstanding shares of the Company's 9 1/2% Series E Cumulative Redeemable Preferred Stock, or to redeem a portion of our 9.5% Series A Cumulative Redeemable Preferred Stock.
