Mike the Pike Productions, Inc.’s (Pink Sheets: MIKP) (www.mtpprods.com) feature film, ‘White Space’, a sci-fi thriller in the vein of ‘Alien’, ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’, and ‘Jaws’, announces today the project’s director, Ken Locsmandi http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm1109940/, founder of www.filmworksfx.com.

Ken’s experience in the industry is extensive, fulfilling roles as Executive Producer, Visual Effects Supervisor and Producer, among others on films ranging from low-budget independents to multi-million dollar studio features in excess of $100,000,000.00.

Filmworks FX is home to a production and complete post-production pipeline that includes pre-visualization and planning, visual effects, digital intermediate, editorial, animation, digital and film acquisition, and more. Filmworks/FX routinely works with major commercial and motion picture companies including Sony Pictures, Fox Searchlight, Walden Media, Mandate Pictures, and Lionsgate. The visual effects team has provided high-end work on such films as Red Riding Hood, Marmaduke, The Terminal and City of Ember, to name a few.

Ken Locsmandi comments, “As the primary details of our plot is under wraps, I don’t want to be esoteric, but will say that White space offers commercial appeal. A science fiction thriller/monster movie is a hard thing to say no to. I’m a nerd at heart so being able to explore themes within a genre that is thrilling and visually unique is a trophy for a storyteller and a director.”

He continues, “The majority of my career has been on the post-production and visual effects side. Many people that work with me quickly say, Wow, you’re not just a visual effects guy. It always makes me smile. In Hollywood you get pigeon holed. This film will allow me to really use all my talents as a renaissance filmmaker. I love visual effects but I tend to dislike visual effects films for their lack of character and story. Story and character are always paramount.”

A recent success story similar to the production circumstances of ‘White Space’ (produced by VFX house with up-and-coming cast, low-cash budget and high production value) was last year’s ‘Skyline’, which reportedly sold to Sony Pictures which brought in over $11,000,000.00 on opening weekend domestically and has since garnered in excess of $67,000,000.00 on international theatrical (does not include DVD, VOD, etc.)
