ACEDS February Conference in South Florida Will Spotlight Predictive Coding

By: PRLog
PR Log - Nov 27, 2012 - Miami – The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists, the global member organization that awards the world's first independent e-discovery certification, will host its 3rd Annual E-Discovery Conference & Exhibition, from Feb. 28 to March 2, 2013 at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, Florida. The conference program includes 16 sessions on hot-button topics and 13 networking events.

More than 30 top experts from diverse professions and occupations will share their knowledge, tips and best practices on technology-assisted review, defensible data management, cloud-based technology solutions, and other pressing e-discovery subjects. In addition to the 16 panels, the several hundred attendees at the acclaimed annual learning and networking event will be able to participate in two in-depth workshops held at the spectacular Westin Diplomat. The 13 first-class networking events include two beachside receptions, three knowledge breakfasts with top service providers, two luncheons and several refreshment breaks.

"At ACEDS, we believe it is important to provide both learning opportunities and a great network of new friends and colleagues who can help you address pressing challenges in your work," says ACEDS Executive Vice President, Mathew Baum.

“The ACEDS Conference is a venue for e-discovery professionals to advance their careers through knowledge and networking. We’re proud of the many signed testimonials we have received from attendees, sponsors and exhibitors at our prior conferences and proud to put them on our website. We are committed to duplicating these prior successes,” he added.

Hallmark format facilitates and promotes learning

The ACEDS conference panels are conducted in a unique format that allows the attendees to question the speakers directly through expert moderators who orchestrate each panel. The expert panelists will dissect hot-button issues in information governance, law, legal technology and other subjects.

One workshop on a subject that has caught the close attention of the e-discovery community will explore the transformative powers and risks of predictive coding technologies. The workshop, featuring top speakers, will be a companion to another panel that probes rulings in recent cases involving predictive coding, which is said to cut the time and costs of document review.

For the first time, top service providers will provide hands-on demonstrations of their predictive coding tools. Panelists will simulate litigation scenarios with sample data sets to give attendees an authentic feel for how the products work.

As always, the ACEDS conference is mindful of the e-discovery needs of both private and public sector professionals.

"ACEDS prides itself in presenting a conference program that not only focuses on major e-discovery challenges of the day, but also in providing sessions that tackle emerging areas that most of the e-discovery community has yet faced," Baum said.

The ACEDS conference offers up to 17 CLE and CPE credits, and CEDS credits for the growing number of CEDS-certified professionals, who must also keep up their continuing education.

The conference also serves the needs of "shoppers" who are looking to acquire e-discovery software and professional services. The ACEDS Conference Exhibition Hall will host more than 50 providers of e-discovery services and software, including:

Presenting Sponsor: Driven Inc.
Diamond Sponsor: DOAR Litigation Consulting
Platinum Sponsor: Hogan Lovells and
Platinum Sponsor: Gallivan Gallivan & O’Melia

Special workshop will dissect new e-discovery rules for Florida courts

A pre-conference workshop, on February 27 will dissect the new Florida e-discovery rules and guide attendees on how to comply effectively. The panelists will include a Florida Circuit Court judge as well as the past chair of the Florida Bar committee that presented the rules to the Florida Supreme Court. The workshop will guide lawyers, litigation support and technology specialists, records managers and others on how to handle electronic data effectively and safely.
