Surgeon, Scientist and Singer???

By: PRLog
Nashville Surgeon & Voice Care Specialist, Dr. Mark Williams, Releases Gospel Music CD Entitled "When A Man Worships"
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Aug. 4, 2016 - PRLog -- Dr. Mark Williams is finding creative ways to Merge Music, Medicine & Ministry. His highly anticipated album "WHEN A MAN WORSHIPS" releases August 12, 2016 and is already receiving rave reviews. With this album, men are being inspired to break out of the constricting mold of machismo and to develop more intimate relationships with their spouse, children and with God. As a laryngologist, Dr. Williams treats professional and recreational singers who have voice problems. While his medical training affords him the expertise to diagnose, treat and prevent voice disturbances, his musical talent gives him a unique perspective for the empathetic treatment of singers who are faced with potentially career-ending voice problems.

A surgeon and a scientist, Dr. Williams is also a prolific musical artist and songwriter. His first nationally released album, "EVERYTHING," garnered for him three national Rhythm of Gospel Awards in 2012 – Worship/ Praise Artist of the Year, Praise and Worship Song of the Year ("The King of Glory"), and Male Traditional Vocalist of the Year. In his Freshman album (all songs written by Williams), he introduced the world to his Smooth Crooning vocals with the Smooth Jazz title track "Everything." Now with his Sophomore album, "When a Man Worships," he continues to refine and offer more prominence to his smooth tenor/baritone Jazz bravura that keeps his loyal fans connected while tickling the fancy of the true diehard jazz lover that's hearing his voice for the first time. With his alluring baritone timbre, he has been affectionately referred to as the Will Downing of Gospel. On this new project Williams collaborates with the talented Quintin X. Coleman to produce a twelve song album and introduce a new subgenre of sorts, that Williams has coined "Smooth Praise" – Smooth Jazz with a Gospel message.

"When A Man Worships" has songs that will satisfy the music lover of any genre. An example of the diversity of the album is heard in the song, "Free at Last," with its Caribbean/Reggae vibe. Williams will be putting a true Caribbean visual to "Free at Last" by filming the official music video on the beautiful island of Jamaica. The album also features the ballad, "My Life, My Love, My Friend" ("My Life, My Love, My Friend" video – https://youtu.be/VHkLXT1-rrk). This song is a personal letter that Williams wrote to his lovely wife and is destined to become a favorite among wedding songs. "Wanna Be Used" is laid back and has a Jazz/R&B feel with an almost hypnotic hook that engages the listener in the mantra "Oh, I – Oh, I Wanna Be Used." The video for "Wanna Be Used" (to be released Early August) is a heart stirring depiction of Williams' merging of medicine and ministry as a surgeon. It was filmed at Tristar Southern Hills Medical Center, where Dr. Williams performs surgery and served as Chief of Surgery. Produced by Michael Whittaker, "Take My Life" is a Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) praise & worship tune that has cross-cultural resonance and appeal.

On the title track, "When A Man Worships", Dr. Williams partners with the incredible Darwin Hobbs (previously referred to as the Luther Vandross of Gospel) to deliver a powerfully inspirational blues tune. Sharon C. Jenkins (Good Men Project) describes it as a "clarion call to fellow men to unashamedly and uninhibitedly embrace worship and its ability to empower men as leaders in the homes" and communities.

Not forsaking his traditional Gospel audience, his current radio single, "Higher Ground (Pressing On)" features Gospel powerhouse, San Franklin-Jackson. "Higher Ground (Pressing On)" is an up-tempo remake of the original Thomas Whitfield hymn. Still early in its promotions, it is already playing on over one hundred radio stations and is steadily climbing the Gospel Charts.

The album releases August 12th but can be pre-ordered at: https://drmarkwilliams.bandcamp.com/album/when-a-man-worships with the instant download of four tracks even before the official release.
