MEDIA RELEASE: Pride Music Video & Strong EP

By: PRLog
INDEPENDENT artist Philip La Rosa hails from Fremantle (PERTH) with a message of hope, love and equality with his fresh, funky pop EP - STRONG.

His passion for music started at the age of 10, which led him on a long journey to releasing his first single, Pride - at the age of 23. The overwhelming response led him to create a music video to reinforce his message of equality which is set to drop the night prior to his live performance after the Perth Pride Parade!

PERTH, Australia - Nov. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- FREMANTLE pop artist Philip La Rosa has launched his fresh EP STRONG just in time for Pride WA celebrations.

If you haven't heard, STRONG is La Rosa's debut EP featuring his popular single Pride released in March. The EP includes nine original tracks, written by La Rosa and well-known Sydney-based producers – the Banton Brothers. The fresh, funky EP isn't just about music, it's about sending a message of self-love, equality and pride. La Rosa met the Banton Brothers in January last year and has been writing and composing with them since September 2015. As a gay musician in WA, La Rosa has not been without his own personal struggles, and his pop EP takes you on a journey of his life, from heart break and battling bullying to discovering himself and finding love and happiness. He hopes through his music he can ignite a fire in others to chase their dreams and stand up for what they believe.

Canberra-based producer Taka Perry describes La Rosa's brand of pop music as "familiar, yet fresh and innovative." "'Strong' showcases his versatility as a musician, from the soft power ballad 'Hurricane' to the upbeat lead single 'Pride'," he said.

The EP has an original sound with artists such as BennyB, Beats Protocol and SKARMA putting their spin on it. Within two weeks of releasing the Pride lyric video to YouTube, it received over 20,000 views – this was a clear sign La Rosa needed to release a music video. Produced by David Vincent Smith and shot by Ross Metcalf, the video shows the everyday struggles of five characters who, in the end, break free and embrace themselves for who they are.

La Rosa plans to further promote his upcoming EP at live gigs, through social media and news outlets. He is set to take the stage to perform songs from STRONG on November 19 at the Urban Orchard, for one of the Pride Parade after parties. The music video for PRIDE is set to drop on 18 November.

La Rosa will be available for performances, interviews and photos ahead of and during the Pride celebrations to discuss his EP release STRONG and the music video for PRIDE.
