MumRadar was born from the passions of three mothers, co-founders Silvia Wetherell, Rita Silva Bishop and Sarka Kocicka (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sarkakocicka), to build an informative and positive social platform, 'Mumformation on the Go', that would inspire, uplift and empower parents.
Silvia is a counsellor and psychotherapist with a passion for supporting mothers who are struggling emotionally and psychologically. Originally from Portugal, she spent ten years in England and is now based in Singapore with her husband and two young children.
"During my career, I came across many women who were struggling to make new 'mummy' friends so they spent most of their time at home and isolated," said Silvia. "Many of these women didn't know where to find the best parenting resources and get support from other mums."
"Instead of going to Google and ten different websites for advice," said Rita, mother of four girls five and under, "mums can use one simple app that provides not only parenting information but also entertainment, shopping and a private social space for mums to meet and chat." Rita is also from Portugal and has been living in Asia for 12 years, the last four in Singapore.
"It is our hope that the app will encourage mothers to feel connected to a community, have fun and make some good friendships along the way," said Sarka, mother of two young daughters and who recently made the San Francisco Bay Area home after seven years in Singapore.
