WASHINGTON - Nov. 2, 2017 - PRLog -- "At this moment, I am filled with so many emotions and excited at the reality of competing on the international stage in just a few short weeks. The second chance came just a few months after the national Mrs. America contest was held in August in Las Vegas, Nevada. The winner crowned that evening was Mekayla Fawn of Indiana. Mekayla's win automatically sends her to compete at the international pageant, Mrs. World. It was the end of the road for the other contestants though.
Shortly after the national contest, the Mrs. America organization made a surprise announcement. A new online voting contest would give a second chance for a contestant to go to Mrs. World, all while raising money for charities. The winner would wear the title "Mrs. of America."
Julie won the contest and the rest is history. Literally. She is the first representative of the District of Columbia to go to the Mrs. World international pageant. Julie will tout the platform, "Pregnancy Loss and Miscarriage Awareness." As a mother of a double rainbow she emphasizes the need to bring awareness to a cause that is often not spoken about but affects many.
"The Mrs. DC America Organization is ecstatic that Julie got a second chance to go to Mrs. World. She worked hard to raise money for the selected charities such as the Susan B. Komen Foundation. "She will represent Mrs. DC America and Mrs. America with class, style and dignity," states Raquel Riley Thomas, the owner of An Officer and Gentlewoman, LLC, the headquarters for Mrs. DC America.
Ann Podaras, the 1st Runner-up of Mrs. DC America will be the acting Mrs. DC America 2017 while Julie is in South Africa. If Julie wins the title of Mrs. World, Ann will take on the Mrs. DC America 2017 position, permanently.
