Dia de la Feria is the theme for June 17, closing day of the 2018 San Mateo County Fair. Culminating nine days of music from many genres are five popular Hispanic bands, including Grammy-nominated Los Yonics. Also in the lineup are Los Caminantes, Banda Arkangel R-15, Grupo Anhelo and Grupo Vennus. 2018 brings a new Dia de la Feria festival format—multiple venues at one fun location. Full seating will be available in Fiesta Hall for Los Yonics, Los Caminantes and Grupo Anhelo. Outdoor music at the Cypress Stage will feature festival seating for Banda Arkangel and Grupo Vennus.
"What is so great about our 2018 music lineup is the variety," said Dana Stoehr, CEO of the San Mateo County Event Center and Fair. "On opening weekend, we have Sheila E. and TLC and closing weekend John Michael Montgomery, and Dia de la Feria Music Festival on Father's Day June 17th.
Los Yonics (5:00 to 6:00 p.m. / Fiesta Hall): Los Yonics was formed in 1976 in San Luis Pedro, México. Since forming, they have released 33 albums, some reaching gold and platinum level status. Los Yonics was nominated for a Grammy in 1986 for Best Mexican-American Performance for their album "Petalo Y Espina" and in 1988 for their single "Corazon Vacio."
Los Caminantes (3:30 to 4:30 p.m. / Fiesta Hall): Los Caminantes was formed by four brothers in 1980. The siblings left their hometown of San Francisco Del Rincon Guanajuato for the United States to record their first single, "Supe Perder."
Grupo Anhelo (2:00 to 3:00 p.m. / Fiesta Hall): Grupo Anhelo was founded in 1981 in Oxnard California by brothers Froylan, Rogerio and Hugo Lopez in conjunction with their friend Fausto Sosa (RIP) all from Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca. Several other talented members joined the band soon after its founding. Their song "Con La Misma Espina" from their first album reached Gold Record status.
Banda Arkangel R-15 (5:30 to 6:30 p.m. / Cypress Stage): Banda Arkangel R-15 was formed in 1992 in Las Varas, Nayarit, Mexico. The band is best known for their technobanda dance genre.
Grupo Vennus (4:00 to 5:00 p.m. / Cypress Stage): Grupo Vennus was founded in the mid 70s in Redwood City by Ernesto Sosa Naranjo, and all of the band's members hailed from Aguililla, Michoacán, Mexico.
