OMG Media Solutions Promotes Its Partnership In Celebrating Culture And Community At The 2018 Minnesota State Fair Showcasing Local Artists

By: PRLog
In the third year of a dream partnership, OMG Media Solutions is excited to showcase a super cultural experience with amazing local talent for 12 days, 900 shows, 100+ acts and all the food you can eat.
MINNEAPOLIS - June 7, 2018 - PRLog -- Since 2016, after the Minnesota State Fair wraps up, OMG Media Solutions' founder Monique Linder meets with the Fair's marketing team to discuss performance results.  "It's been going on three amazing years of celebrating record breaking success," said Monique Linder.   Ms. Linder went on to say: "The magic started two years ago honoring Prince's music legacy as co-producers of "Unite In Purple", a beautiful tribute at the fair to Minnesota's native son. We could not imagine crushing attendance records in year 2. In 2018, we are excited to once again partner with the fair in marketing the Great Minnesota Get-Together and its entertainment lineup, including so many amazing local artists and musicians to celebrate culture and community."

"The partnership with OMG Media Solutions has been incredibly valuable to the Minnesota State Fair. Monique Linder's creative ideas and ability to connect with communities across the metro area has been a tremendous asset to our marketing efforts," said Renee Alexander, Deputy General Manager for the fair.

In addition to assisting with the fair's marketing, starting in 2016, OMG Media Solutions also invited World Press Institute Fellows; journalists from around the world to spend a day at the fair.

About WPI Fellows

The 2018 fellows will spend nine weeks in the United States beginning in mid-August examining the free press and media innovations and learning about America's social and cultural diversity. The fellows will travel around the U.S. meeting with journalists, political, business and community leaders and policy experts. These journalists are the best in their respective countries. They are smart, ambitious and hardworking. They approach journalism with a deep sense of dedication and responsibility and they are eager to learn — about journalism and life in the world's most powerful democracy. They are journalists and photographers from newspapers, radio, television and online media.  Some WPI fellows work in countries where to tell the truth and be accurate, unbiased and fair requires taking a lot of risks. But they all share a common belief in the importance of the right of a people to be informed.

"We look forward to the annual visit by the WPI Fellows. They have contributed to making the fair not just a celebration of Minnesota but a celebration of people and cultures from around the globe," said Alexander.

Part of the WPI Fellows' visit includes a meeting and question and answer session with the fair's General Manager, Jerry Hammer. "Watching Jerry share the history of the Minnesota State Fair with the journalists is one of my favorite events. Bringing 10 brilliant journalists, speaking different languages together to learn about the Fair's history, followed by reading the news stories that they publish in their home country when they return home about their experiences takes the celebration of culture and community to a higher level," explained Ms. Linder. This year's fellows are from Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Egypt, Finland, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Portugal and Russia.  View the release 2018 WPI Fellows.  Source: https://worldpressinstitute.org/2018class

History of Minnesota State Fair

The Minnesota Agricultural Society was founded in 1854 with a mission to promote the Minnesota Territory's agriculture by presenting an annual fair – the first of which was held in 1855 in Minneapolis. Statehood was granted in 1858, and the Society held its first State Fair in 1859, also in Minneapolis. During the fair's early years, the site of the exposition changed annually with stops in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, Red Wing, Winona and Owatonna. In the 1870s and early 1880s, civic groups from both St. Paul and Minneapolis worked to provide a permanent home for the fair in their respective cities. The Minnesota State Fair finally found a permanent home at its present location in 1885 when Ramsey County donated its 210-acre poor farm to the state for use by the Agricultural Society, the governing body of the State Fair. Physically, the fairgrounds blossomed to its current 320 acres. Architecturally, it is home to many historically significant structures, including the Fine Arts Center, Progress Center, Grandstand, Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum and Agriculture Horticulture Building.
