John C. Bogle, Vanguard founder, father of index investing, dies at 89

Bogle, who died Wendesday in Bryn Mawr, Pa., achieved legendary status in the business community for championing a passive investment strategy in the face of much skepticism and standing behind his philosophy until it gained widespread acceptance.
