Passenger Suffers Humiliation and Financial Loss From Lyft Driver with Stolen IPhone

By: PRLog
A flight attendant had her Apple Iphone taken by a Lyft driver who used it to publish nude photos of her to her friends and family contacts on Twitter and transfer money to himself using cash transfer applications and solicitations on social media
ATLANTA - Jan. 28, 2019 - PRLog -- On March 6, 2018, Meira Price used Lyft, Inc., a rideshare app that provides transportation to the public, to go to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. That simple trip turned into a life shattering nightmare after she realized that her Apple iphone fell out of her pocket while in the Lyft vehicle. Ms. Price attempted to locate her iphone with the "find your phone" app on a back-up phone but was unable to do so because her Apple password had been changed.

The driver of the Lyft vehicle was Cordell Graham. Ms. Price then received two bank notifications that $400.00 had be transferred to Cordell Graham and $600.00 had been transferred to another person. On March 7, 2018, Ms. Price contacted Lyft through Twitter about the lost iphone and the bank transactions.

Also, on March 7, 2018 Ms. Price was informed by family and friends that the person with Ms. Price's iphone and access to all her social media accounts began to ask her social media contacts to loan them money through cash-transferring applications. Several acquaintances sent money, believing Ms. Price had made the request. These efforts by the person with Ms. Price's iphone continued for several weeks.

On March 10, 2018, Mr. Graham posted a nude photo of Ms. Price on her Twitter account, which she had taker on her iphone to document her weight loss efforts. He also continued to solicit money from her social media contacts. A few of them were men that had expressed interest in dating Ms. Price. Mr. Graham capitalized on this and offered to send nude pictures to two of them in exchange for money. They paid, so he sent the photos. Mr. Graham, pretending to be Ms. Price, informed them that he sold nude photos and videos.

Ms. Price returned to Atlanta on March 14, 2018 and filed a police report. She also reached out to Apple, who informed her that they could not freeze her phone without the proper Apple ID which had been changed by Mr. Graham.

At the time of the incident, Ms. Price had recently started her job as a flight attendant for GoJet Airlines. As she was in a probationary period, she was subject to termination should she not report to duty when called. Knowing this, upon returning home on March 6th, she immediately called her supervisor and provided her with a back-up phone number to use until she could obtain a new permanent phone. However, while waiting for her replacement phone she was called on her old number for a trip. Since Mr. Graham was now in possession of the phone, she never received the notice. She was terminated from her job on March 27, 2018.

Ms. Price has suffered severe emotional distress due to the incident. Not only did the theft of her phone cause her to lose her job, it has taken a severe emotional toll on her. Social media acquaintances have been provided nude photos of her. Mr. Graham used her identity to scam family and friends out of money. Her privacy has been violated through social media. The stress of trying to mitigate the damage done by Mr. Graham has been stressful and emotionally draining for Ms. Price.

Ms. Price has requested compensation from Lyft for the damage she has sustained, but to date they have declined to accept responsibility for the misconduct of their driver.  They assert that they are not responsible for his actions towards their fare paying passenger.
