Creative Director, Danielle Williams tells story of how she started the brand and why she chose Xaymaca as collection name

Resort 444 recently launched its debut luxury swimwear collection, Xaymaca. Owned and managed by Danielle Williams, Resort 444 is designed for women who are passionate about travel and love swimwear and fashion. The Xaymaca collection is a redefinition of style and luxury and is made for the fashion forward woman. Also made for women who are not afraid of bright tropical colors, the collection delivers beautiful pieces in the most outstanding colors such as yellow and purple.
The debut collection is Danielle’s tribute to Jamaica and also the reason she chose Xaymaca as her collection name. According to Danielle, ‘Jamaica’s first inhabitants, the Taino Indians called the Island ‘Xaymaca’ meaning ‘land of wood and water.’ This was given because of its rich vegetation and majestic waters.
Danielle hopes that the world can ‘experience a piece of Jamaica through the Xaymaca Collection.’ This is because Jamaica was Danielle’s place of solace after her dad’s unexpected death in 2009. She and her siblings made a move to travel to Jamaica a year after their dad’s death after battling depression. The country presented a new air and a different aura that they fell in love with. She therefore decided to visit the country every year to celebrate their dad’s life. In her words, ’13 visits later and I still can’t quite put my finger on what it is about Jamaica. My soul feels free there, just like my father is.’
On why she chose 444 as a part of her brand name, she recounts how she worked late into the night while designing the collection and always saw 4:44 am when she looked up at the clock. This happened for a while and as a spiritual person, she thought that that meant something. She therefore googled the meaning of 444.
The meaning turned out to be ‘A sign that your guardian angels are surrounding you and assuring you that they are helping you. You are not to worry and you are on the right path. Have faith in what you are doing.’ According to her, ‘‘That was reassurance that it was finally my time. No matter how nervous I was about launching my first swim collection, the time was now.’’
She resolved that her dad who was her inspiration was watching her and she had the courage to launch her brand. The Xaymaca two-piece and one-piece swim wears define Danielle’s courage and her love for exotic places and head-turning designs. With 100 percent attention to details, Danielle distinguishes her pieces with a touch of golden chains. The splits and cut-outs are made to flatter and accentuate every woman’s body.
