Creative Bioarray Releases Tube Formation Assay to Study Angiogenesis in Vitro

Angiogenesis is critical for tumorigenesis and metastasis. The HUVECs tube formation assay is a simple but well-established in vitro angiogenesis assay based on the ability of ECs to form three-dimensional capillary-like tubular structures representing the later stages of the angiogenesis process. During the assay, HUVEC cells differentiate, migrate directionally to align, branch, and form a polygonal network of blood vessels.

Endothelial cells differentiate morphologically to form tubes. Cells first attach to the matrix and migrate to each other. They then attach to other cells, aligning and forming capillary-like tubes. Tubes mature until cells eventually undergo apoptosis, resulting in detachment from the surface and tube destruction.
