United flight from LAX to Vancouver makes emergency landing over alleged bomb threat: report

A United Airlines flight traveling from Los Angeles to Vancouver made an emergency landing in San Francisco reportedly over a bomb threat later deemed not credible.

A United Airlines flight traveling from Los Angeles International Airport to Vancouver, Canada, made an emergency landing because of an alleged bomb threat, according to local reports.

The flight made an emergency landing in San Francisco, according to KGO. The outlet cited a San Francisco International Airport duty manager as having said a passenger on board the flight announced some sort of bomb threat.

"United flight 1909 diverted to San Francisco this evening due to a potential security issue on board," the airline said in a statement to Fox News, without disclosing the nature of the threat. "The flight landed safely and was met by local law enforcement. We are working to get our customers to their final destination as soon as possible."

The A320 aircraft was carrying 148 passengers and eight crew members.

The flight-tracking aviation company FlightAware shows the plane took off from LAX at 7:13 p.m. local time and landed at SFO at 9:28 p.m.

It was not immediately clear whether the passenger involved was taken into custody. Reports say the threat was determined not to be credible.

ALASKA AIRLINES PASSENGER RECOUNTS HARROWING MOMENTS OFF-DUTY PILOT ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO CUT PLANE'S ENGINES

This comes as San Francisco is hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEEC) summit this week when President Biden is to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines.

Last month, a flight that took off from Washington state bound for San Francisco was diverted to Portland, Oregon, over a "credible security threat."

An off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot who was riding in the jumper seat was accused of attempting to shut down the plane's engines mid-flight from the cockpit. Suspect Joe Emerson, who allegedly had a mental breakdown, is facing 83 counts of attempted murder and other charges, though authorities did not say the incident was terror-related.
