Today Kohl’s (NYSE:KSS) announced a $500,000 cash donation toward Hurricane Ike relief efforts in the Gulf Coast region. Kohl’s is providing this donation to the American Red Cross, which is delivering much-needed emergency assistance in the hurricane-impacted areas.
In addition to a financial contribution, Kohl’s is encouraging its associates to volunteer for hurricane cleanup efforts. In exchange for volunteer hours, Kohl’s will make corporate grants to the nonprofit organizations that associates support.
“With 28 stores and more than 2,500 associates in the hurricane-impacted area, Kohl’s is committed to the communities where we do business. We know this is a critical time of need for the Texas Gulf Coast,” said Julie Gardner, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Kohl’s Department Stores. “We are proud to support the American Red Cross in its efforts to offer emergency assistance to the region, as well as mobilize our associates to further assist with the hurricane recovery efforts.”
