With increased access, has come increased health problems. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), at least 16.3 million people had a THC use disorder in 2021, a 7 times increase from 2013. Part of this growth is attributed to an increase in ER visits for medical and mental health emergencies in teens related to using THC.
