CEO Makes a Leadership Gift to Position USF as a Catalyst for Nonprofit Excellence and Innovation

Tampa, FL - July 22, 2024 - Michelle A. Turman, CEO of Catalyst Consulting Services, has made a leadership gift to USF School of Public Affairs to increase capacity for the Nonprofit Leadership Program. This marks Turman's fourth gift to the university since 2017 and she was inspired to invest in the program based on her thirty-year career in nonprofit management and the desire to make USF a bold leader in this growing industry.

“Michelle's gift will position the school as the premier resource hub and collaborative partner for nonprofit organizations, providing access to critical information, trends, and leadership development. Her gift will elevate our mission through community-engaged outreach, addressing the immediate needs of nonprofit organizations regionally and across Florida. Initiatives include building a web-based hub for resources and research, creating a global nonprofit network with study abroad opportunities, and launching nonprofit capacity-building roundtables, podcasts and applied leadership labs. The USF School of Public Affairs looks forward to collaborating with Michelle as we embark on this exciting next chapter for Nonprofit Leadership in service to our communities," says Dr. Robin Ersing, Professor and USF School of Public Affairs director.

Turman, a USF alumna has been responsible for increasing the impact and best practices of nonprofit organizations she has served since 1996 and raised over $87 million for the Tampa Bay community through her professional and personal philanthropic efforts. "USF is uniquely positioned to serve as the expert through our collective multi-disciplinary expertise. With continued investment, we can serve as an innovative convener that will engage and strengthen servant leaders and further develop a workforce that our nonprofits need and desire."

"I am truly grateful to Michelle for all that she has done, and continues to do, to support and elevate her alma mater,” says Jay Stroman, USF Foundation CEO. “In addition to making generous donations, she serves as a member of the USF Foundation Board of Directors and the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council. With her most recent gift, she is supporting future leaders in vital nonprofit work. This new fund will make a profound difference in the lives of our dedicated students and the communities they will one day serve."
